You can camp & cuddle with actual wolves this summer
Do you secretly want to see a wolf in real life without feeling like you’re in The Grey? Us too, which is why we’re going to Predators of the Heart to check out the Wolf Encounters program this summer. This wildlife sanctuary in Anacortes, Washington sits on 10 acres and has all sorts of crazy animals to see.
The nonprofit organization has been taking care of bobcats, cougars, wolves, and a whole host of other animals since 1998. Their explicit goal is to educate the public on the value of all animals, regardless of their utility or similarity to pets. The compassionate approach hopes to develop caring and concern for the vulnerability of predator and exotic species.
In fact, all the animals there are unable to properly live in the wild. A large majority of them are the result of humans purchasing exotic pets and then not being able to properly care for them. What’s that? We can’t keep a bobcat on our friend’s ranch? Who would have thought?
As part of their sanctuary experience, they offer Wolf Encounters, where people are able to tour the property alongside two ‘wolf ambassadors’. The encounter lets you get up and close with the animals, with photos and videos being heavily encouraged.
